Take your photography to the next level with my Five Week course on Studio Lighting.
Aimed at keen amateurs and semi-professionals wanting to learn the basics of studio lighting and manual settings on the camera. The five sessions will take you through a range of different lighting techniques, explain the equipment you’ll need and how to use it and also provide you with the skills to control a shoot and direct your ‘model’.
If you’re considering setting up a home studio or maybe hiring a professional facility, this course will also help you understand what to look for when buying or selecting lights and how to get the best from them.
Delivered in 2 hour sessions over a 5 week period, the course will cover:
- Introduction to lighting – What everything does!
- Using and controlling light
- Health and safety in the studio
- Setting up the camera – Manual
- Metering with an external meter
- White balance,
- Portraiture
- High Key/ Low Key
- Filters/Coloured Gels
- Model direction
The practical workshops include theory supported by handouts. The emphasis is on practical work and demonstrations to help develop and consolidate your understanding. Practical work will be based around group activities working within the studio. Each activity is designed to help you gain confidence in how different lighting set-ups and settings affect the final image. We’ll also have a model available for you to work with and direct.
You’ll also receive Handouts from each session along with ongoing support, via email, for 28 days after your course ends.
Groups are kept small, ensuring that you have the fullest opportunity to make the most of your session. All sessions take place in my fully equipped studio in Garforth, Leeds.
What you’ll need:
- DSLR or Bridge camera
- Charged battery
- An empty memory card (don’t forget to clear any images from it in advance)
- Camera Instruction manual
