Group Training for Beginners using Digital SLR and Bridge Cameras

A Group session for up to 10 people, covering everything you need to know to move away from Auto settings and get the most from your camera.
Date & Time: Saturday 22nd June 2024, 9:30am – 12:30pm
Location: Galtres Centre, Market Place, Easingwold.
The session will cover:
- Basic camera settings;
- ISO,
- Shutter Priority,
- Aperture Priority,
- Metering options
- white balance,
- depth of field,
- use of flash,
- exposure compensation
- Flash exposure compensation.
You’ll learn basic principles of photography, with the emphasis on practical work to help develop and consolidate your learning.
The workshop covers all the main features across the vast majority cameras. Using your own camera, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and apply your learning to the specific features available on your make and model.
Although I can’t promise to offer personal guidance on the specifics of every camera – there are far too many makes and models for me to have detailed knowledge of them all – I will provide clear advice on the main features available on the majority of equipment.
Practical work is based around activities within the Galtres Centre. Each activity is designed to help you gain confidence and understand how different camera settings affect the final image.
You’ll also receive Handouts from each session along with ongoing support, via email, for 28 days after your workshop.
Groups have a maximum of 10 people, ensuring that you have the fullest opportunity to make the most of your session. Sessions take place in the Galtres Centre, Easingwold.
What you’ll need:
- DSLR, Mirrorless or Bridge camera (Compact Camera users may attend but will find many features are limited)
- Charged battery
- An empty memory card (don’t forget to clear any images from it in advance)
- Instruction Manual (Full version is possible)
